BRINGING SOUND TO LIFE

Shunyata Research’s mastery of the science behind ground-plane noise reduction comes into full view within the new reference Altaira-X grounding hub and matching 'X' ground cables.

Based on the defining success of its award-winning Altaira ground system, Shunyata Research was inspired to re-shape the category of ground-plane noise reduction with an all-in assault on the state-of-the-art. After three years of intensive research and testing, the resulting introduction of the Altaira-X ground hub and 'X' ground cable system are poised re-define performance expectations for the category. The dramatic Altaira-X design progression begins with Shunyata Research's most advanced multi-stage filter network applied to each ground post, designed to drain layers of high-frequency RFI/EMI noise from component chassis and signal grounds. Behind Altaira-X's complex ground post filters lies the patent pending TAPc (Transverse Axial Polarizer — carbon edition) and patented NIC™ (Noise Isolation Chamber). These advanced technologies confer an increase in resolution so profound that it will surpass even the most seasoned listener's expectations.

Altaira-X comes equipped with eight solid copper, platinum-plated component ground posts and one solid copper main terminal to ensure conductivity and maximum noise dissipation. Altaira-X's eight independently filtered component terminals create a profoundly quiet foundation for recording, mastering, or high-end listening systems. By eliminating chassis and signal ground borne RFI and EMI, Altaira-X brings forward the inherent energy, dynamics and timing precision in sound as if an artificial constraint was entirely removed. With Altaira-X in place, sound becomes palpably more vivid, immediate, dimensional, and present in the room.

'X' ground cables complete the Altaira-X reference system by delivering the lowest-resistance connection possible between the components and the hub. To accomplish this, 'X' ground cables utilize pure silver conductors treated with Shunyata Research’s KPIP v2™ process to achieve ultimate conductivity. The 'X' ground cables come fitted with proprietary TAPc and CMode (Common Mode noise reduction) modules for even greater reduction of any residual RFI/EMI ground noise. The 'X' cables form the finest ground connection available, fully exposing the uncompromising performance of the Altaira-X hub.

CRITICAL TECHNOLOGIES IN ALTAIRA-X

TAPc

TAP (Transverse Axial Polarizer) is a patent-pending technology developed by Shunyata Research to enhance the performance of its reference signal cables. The evolution of this technology has led to the creation of TAPc, a groundbreaking advancement that significantly reduces the size of the modules, enabling their application across a broader range of products, including power distributors, power cords, interconnects, digital cables and speaker cables.

The sonic results of TAPc technology include a profound drop in perceived noise floor, effortlessly portrayed dynamics, and an exceptional rendering of timing and coherency. These benefits are unique to TAPc, setting it apart from any competing product or technology. Even to an untrained ear, the effects of TAPc are immediately apparent and consistently repeatable across various components and systems. Essentially, the TAPc modules act as force multipliers, elevating the listening experience to levels many would not have thought possible.

NIC

The ‌‌NIC™ (‌‌Noise Isolation Chamber) is a patented Shunyata Research device that reduces high frequency power line noise. It employs a ferroelectric substance that actually absorbs high frequency noise without any of the reactive negatives associated with transformers and large capacitors as used in conventional power conditioners.

platinum-plated

Platinum plating on the ground terminals delivers exceptional fidelity and tonal purity, offering a stunning natural presentation that complements the heightened resolution of Altaira-X. Fine detail is revealed without harshness, while clarity, contrast, and dimensionality are preserved.

KPIP v2 tech icon

KPIP v2™ Shunyata Research’s proprietary Kinetic Phase Inversion Process includes four days of continuous KPIP v2™ processing which refines conductor metals at the atomic level. This dramatically reduces burn-in time and significantly improves sonic performance, delivering a relaxed and life-like presentation. When compared to the original process, KPIP v2™ represents a dramatic performance upgrade on par with a component-level upgrade.
