Good Morning
Again, thank you for allowing me to audition the sigma and omega ethernet cables. Yesterday, I invited a local dealer to do a blind listening of the ethernet cables. I only told him I had three internet cables, #1, #2 and #3 and that I would play several pieces and would like his opinion as to the cables. Unbeknownst to him, he heard the amazon standard cable, then the omega and then the sigma. The pieces were classical: Laszlo Marosi’s 3 Dances on the Roland Szentpali album and Peter Boyer’s Ghost of Troy: Rage of Achilles.
He “tolerated” the amazon cable for about a minute and asked that I switch cables. When he heard the Omega, he listened to the entire tracks, as he also did with the sigma. After hearing all three cables for both pieces, I asked him to rank the cables and say why, IF he heard a difference.
Essentially instantly he said: #2 then #3 and finally #1. #1 was flat, lifeless, without clarity. He said #2 and #3 were very close, but #2 just had more clarity, separation, deeper soundstage, absolutely no noise, etc.
Of course, he had selected the Omega, then Sigma and essentially discarded the Amazon.
I revealed his choices and we smirked at how those 0s and 1s could change. He was really impressed. I was really impressed that in literally minutes he could hear such a difference that he could rank the cables in the proper order!
Incidentally, he also was impressed by the Altaira even though I still have only the low end demo cables.
Bravo Shunyata!
I will be getting the Omega ethernet cable. JS Audio told me to keep the demo and you or they would provide a shipping label for the two sigma cables.
Planning for the future, would I hear a significant difference upgrading my sigma interconnects and speaker cables to Omegas and if so, since I doubt I can afford to do all at once, what order would you recommend in upgrading. At present I have:
RCA from phono amp to preamp
XLR from DAC to preamp
XLR from preamp to mono block amps
speaker cable
THANKS!
