David Rawlings invited Shunyata Research to visit Woodland Studio through a referral from Brian Speiser, sound engineer for the Tedeschi-Trucks Band. After spending a full day getting to know the many facets and sound rooms at Woodland Studio, Shunyata's Grant Samuelsen and Scott Wheeler oversaw the installation of Shunyata Research's system of products to the analog chain and lacquer cutting system, as well as the console room, where David and engineer Brent Bishop mentioned they had experienced issues with noise and distortion.
There were immediate audible results, including a lowered noise floor, revealing even greater detail in their recording and lacquer cutting process. As a result of both listening and measurement, Shunyata Research's full system of products are now a permanent part of Woodland Studio's iconic, state of the art sound systems.
"We conducted two noise floor measurements in our Studio A control room to evaluate the impact of the Shunyata Gemini 8. We connected the Gemini 8 to the console power supply, along with two EMT tube plate reverbs. After allowing the Gemini 8 to warm up for a couple of weeks, I measured the noise floor. I then returned the console and EMT plate reverbs to house power and took a second set of measurements for comparison. On average, I observed a -2.5 dBu reduction in noise floor across the frequency spectrum with the Gemini 8 in the power chain, including a -3.5 dBu reduction at 60 Hz. Given that the EMT plates have always been a significant contributor to our overall noise floor, this level of improvement is particularly impressive."

The NIC™ (Noise Isolation Chamber) is a patented technology that reduces high frequency power line noise. It absorbs high frequency noise without any of the reactive negatives associated with transformers, chokes, coils or large capacitors used in more conventional power conditioners.

GPNR (Ground Plane Noise Reduction) is an advanced ground noise filtering system derived from our Altaira ground hubs. GPNR provides continuous ground-plane noise reduction and dramatically lowers the system’s noise floor, preserving clarity, enhancing timing precision, and revealing subtle musical and spatial detail.
Shunyata Research’s proprietary Kinetic Phase Inversion Process (KPIP v2™) refines conductor and terminal metals at the atomic level. This dramatically reduces burn-in time and significantly improves sonic performance, delivering a relaxed and life-like presentation.
CCI™ filters have the unique ability to reduce component-generated power line noise without inhibiting DTCD® (Dynamic Transient Current Delivery). This unique micro-filtering approach prevents power line noise from one component from contaminating other electronics in the system.
DTCD® Analysis is a proprietary measurement technique developed to measure instantaneous current flow through very low impedance electrical conductors and contacts. It is used to optimize the design of electrical parts and materials, ensuring optimal instantaneous current delivery.
ArNi® is Shunyata Research’s proprietary audio-grade wire, manufactured to standards well beyond conventional conductors. It combines ultra-pure copper, advanced conductor geometries, premium fluorocarbon insulation, and KPIP v2™ treatment to preserve resolution, clarity, and dynamic expression.
