Alpha v2 Ethernet Cable

Hello again,

After a more thorough “burn in” time I promised to return with a few of my insights with this cable.

First off I have heard so many times from people interested/invested in Hifi/High end applications saying what cable you use does not matter. That the purpose of a cable is simply just to send an electrical signal from one end to the other, if you use a black standard cable that usually comes with amplifiers/CD etc is just as good as more expensive cables.

Well I can tell you, as I now sit in front of my speakers playing music from Qobuz it sounds absolutely amazing (The black std cable would not come far in comparison).

I came from using a 100 USD ethernet cable that did an ok job from an RFI/shielding perspective. However, letting the Shunyata Alpha V2 cable run warm from a few hours to now well over 100 hours, I almost get the impression that I have changed to a new USB cable or to a new power cable (not a new ethernet cable). This is my foremost and still most prominent impression of installing a serious ethernet cable in my system. Can an ethernet cable have such an impact on the sound I am hearing (?), answer is obviously yes but I think that I have never imagined/understood the impact of a good ethernet cable before. Until now.

Overall improvements:the sound now is more mature/saturated, better bass impact, stereo image is both wider and a bit deeper, pitch black silence between songs and a healthy increase of dynamics. The increase of dynamics is extra helpful as my Thiel CS 1.6 speakers are a bit lacking in that department.

Really happy that I took the leap to invest in this excellent cable.

Many thanks and all the best.

F.J.
