Introducing Typhon-X

PC-Typhon-X-front-1-1

The Speed of Sound

Shunyata Research is proud to announce the release of Typhon-X, a high-current power distributor designed to unleash the full dynamic potential of amplifiers, recording consoles and other current-sensitive electronics.

At the heart of Typhon-X is a maximized version of Shunyata Research’s patented QR/BB technology. Designer Caelin Gabriel refers to the QR/BB as the “engine” behind the performance of Shunyata Research’s finest power products. Acting as an instantaneous energy reserve, the QR/BB makes peak current more readily available to connected electronics than the wall outlet alone can provide. The result is an unmistakable increase in dynamic authority, transient immediacy and scale.

For the first time in the Typhon platform, this massive energy reserve is combined with Shunyata Research’s TAPc technology. TAPc passively reduces electromagnetic distortion surrounding electrical conductors, removing an additional layer of noise and compression. Together, QR/BB and TAPc produce a compelling combination of unrestricted dynamics, profound background silence and three-dimensional spatial resolution.

Typhon-X was engineered from the ground up for high-current applications. Its custom 30A Amphenol input, massive tellurium-copper contacts and 6-gauge ArNi® VTX-Ag™ internal buss system provide an exceptionally low-resistance path for instantaneous current delivery. Two independently isolated component outlets are joined by a proprietary 30A output, allowing Typhon-X to serve as a dedicated amplifier solution or as a compact two or three-component power-distribution system.

Typhon-X removes barriers between electronics and the power they demand, delivering exceptional performance with reference amplifiers, recording consoles and instrument amplification. Greater dynamic freedom, frequency extension and physical presence allow systems to perform with an effortless sense of scale and authority.

CRITICAL TECHNOLOGIES IN TYPHON-X

TAPc

TAPc (Transverse Axial Polarizer) is a patent-pending technology that couples to the electromagnetic fields surrounding electrical or signal conductors. TAPc behaves like a polarizer, passively reducing electromagnetic distortion that presents as a type of glare on sound or images.

The sonic impact of TAPc is unmistakable. There is a profound drop in perceived noise floor, effortlessly portrayed dynamics and an immediate improvement in the rendering of timing and coherency in sound. These performance elements are unique to TAPc and remain unaddressed by competing technologies of any kind. Even casual listeners can recognize the effect TAPc has upon first listen. Results are consistent across a wide range of components and systems. Essentially, the TAPc modules act as force multipliers, elevating the listening experience to levels many would not have thought possible.

qrbb

The ‌‌QR/BB™ is a patented device which dramatically enhances the perception of dynamic impact and timing when connected to amplifiers or other high-current electronics. The ‌‌QR/BB™ is unique in that it provides a local reserve of energy, or Coulomb charge, that mitigates the inductive reactance of the AC power line without using coils, transformers or capacitors. The ‌‌QR/BB™ acts as an instantaneous energy reserve when placed in-line with an AC power supply.

NIC

The ‌‌NIC™ (‌‌Noise Isolation Chamber) is a patented Shunyata Research device that reduces high frequency power line noise. It employs a ferroelectric substance that actually absorbs high frequency noise without any of the reactive negatives associated with transformers and large capacitors as used in conventional power conditioners.

KPIP v2 tech icon

KPIP v2™ Shunyata Research’s proprietary Kinetic Phase Inversion Process includes four days of continuous KPIP v2™ processing which refines conductor metals at the atomic level. This dramatically reduces burn-in time and significantly improves sonic performance, delivering a relaxed and life-like presentation. When compared to the original process, KPIP v2™ represents a dramatic performance upgrade on par with a component-level upgrade.
